As a child, I was raised by a very photogenic mother. Every time we traveled or went to a local event,
she would always bring a Kodak disposable camera and fill up the roll before the day's end, then order 4x6 prints
for our family album. I can't recall understanding too much what the fuss was all about, but for her, these were
her most treasured moments in life. Being her only child, I meant the world to her, and still do, even to this day.
Although I was never inherently fond of photography as a child, I always enjoyed building LEGOs and drawing; part of
me has always been drawn to the arts. Unfortunately, LEGO building was all I was decent at.
Around the summer of 2012, the local billboards advertising the photographic prowess of the Samsung Galaxy s4,
about how awesome its 12MP camera was. My childhood curiosity got the better of me, thus I got this phone before
going on my first solo trip to California to meet up with a friend of mine. Although the phone didn't capture high
quality, printable photos, it fit my needs at the time, and definitely gave me an enjoyable, basic introduction to photography.
Fast forward a year to the following winter, one of my friends brought his Nikon D5300 DSLR along when we went ice skating
in the Millennium Park rink. I asked him about photography basics and at the end of our 30 minute conversation, realized a whole
new world awaited me, and decided to purchase my own DSLR when I had the money.
In 2016, a good friend of mine hired me under his team as an engineering intern. Throughout this summer, I saved enough money
to purchase my own DSLR, the introductory Nikon D3300 kit. Since then I have been and am still continuously exploring things.
